ADSB-ME
Support
The iPhone and iPad app is the instructor trainer. The Apple Watch app is the on-wrist radar. Both can show live traffic. Only the phone hosts the training server.
iPhone & iPad
ADSB-ME on iPhone and iPad is a map-first instructor tool. Create synthetic aircraft, draw paths, and host a local SBS-compatible TCP server (port 30003) so ARACE GCS or QGroundControl can display that traffic on the same Wi-Fi. Optionally overlay nearby live ADS-B from a public aggregator you select. Monitor on the phone uses your location to watch a radius and altitude band, and can sync alert settings to a paired Apple Watch.
Apple Watch
The Watch app is a native companion and also runs on its own. It shows nearby live traffic on a radar and on Apple Maps. When the iPhone is nearby, simulated training tracks can appear too. Arm Monitor to alert when an aircraft enters the radius and altitude you set — audio, haptics, and a watch-face complication. The Watch can keep polling a live feed with its own GPS when the phone is not in range.
Simulation only
Synthetic tracks from the phone server are for instructor-led
training. This is not live ATC, NOTAM, or operational ADS-B for
flight. Do not forward the SBS feed to public aggregators or
production surveillance networks, and do not treat markers such as
SIM001 as live aircraft. Live overlay on phone or Watch
is awareness only — not navigation.
Connect a ground station
- Join the same Wi-Fi or personal hotspot as the iPhone or iPad running ADSB-ME.
- Start the server in the phone app and note the shown IP and port (30003).
- In QGroundControl or ARACE GCS, open Settings → General, enable Connect to ADSB SBS server, and enter that host and port.
Permissions
- Local Network (iPhone & iPad) — accept SBS clients on the LAN. No internet relay. The Watch does not host the server.
- Location, when in use — centre the phone map, fetch nearby public ADS-B, and measure the Monitor cylinder. On Watch, GPS centres the radar and measures the same cylinder.
- Location, always — only if you enable Monitor so alerts can fire in the background on iPhone or Apple Watch.
- Notifications — proximity alerts (bundled sounds on phone and Watch, Watch haptics).

Ground control & other
Training traffic is designed for QGroundControl and ARACE GCS over a local SBS TCP feed. Those products are not affiliated with this app.
The iPhone and iPad app is built with Flutter and flutter_map. The Apple Watch app and complication are native SwiftUI.
